The 2010 Winner’s Circle and Hunter’s Isle show season is about to begin. The show dates are posted on-line and the prize lists are being completed and will also be available on-line. New jumps have been ordered, new classes added and an exciting season is being planned.
Winner’s Circle Summer Series starts on May 2 with the Rice Farms show. This year, in response to the exhibitors’ requests, the sand schooling ring will again be available for exercising and schooling all day and the shows will be run in the four rings. The three all-weather rings are being prepped and plans are underway to renovate the Short Stirrup Ring with all-weather footing in late May. The season is again highlighted by the WC Charity Show on July 14 for the benefit of Little Shelter and the May Festival on May 23. New divisions and classes will be offered this year as well. A Training Hunter division will be held at each show with a series’end championship award. Three Gamblers’ Choice classes have also been added at each show and those classes will not count toward Champion or Reserve points for the divisions. In addition, several of the shows will feature the new Winner’s Circle Hunter Derby Class consisting of both a hunter and handy hunter round.
Hunter’s Isle Series starts on Sunday, May 9. The series will also feature the new Training Hunter division. The rings will be aerated, re-seeded and groomed prior to show season and maintained throughout the season. Plans continue for the construction of a state-of-the-art indoor arena on the showgrounds. State and local approvals have been secured, architectural renderings are being completed and the future facility will be the home for year-round competitions.
This year, in an effort to streamline the showing experience for all, exhibitors are encouraged to submit their entries no later than 72 hours prior to the start of each competition. Pre-entering saves the exhibitor both time and the post-entry fee charges. It will also allow for the website posting of classes and horses the day before the show and will provide for a quicker show office experience the day of the show.
As always, Winner’s Circle and Hunter’s Isle welcome comments and suggestions and wish everyone a successful and fun show season.
